Cassie Magrath plays the title role of Annie. She possesses all the spunk and talent to bring the iconic character to life, her director said. “She commands every scene that she’s in. It’s kind of incredible to watch. You will be blown away,” Director Chance Harmon said.

The First leading role of many! She is truly exceptional. I feel that I have just spent the last couple of months working with a future Broadway star. Can’t wait to follow her on that journey! Also, she set a great example for all of the kiddos in this show!  (Leah Wall, Owner, Off The Wall Dance Productions)

From the very beginning, when Magrath’s Annie begins singing “Maybe,” you knew you were in for a great show. Magrath was an entertaining and adorable Annie. She performed well and the audience clearly loved her. Magrath’s solo musical numbers included “Maybe,” and “Tomorrow,” but she also performed in several other numbers, including “Hard-Knock Life” and “I Don’t Need Anything but You.” She has the makings of a great stage vocalist and actress and I look forward to seeing what she does in the future. Most parents believe their children are special, but Matilda Wormwood — played on opening night by the talented Cassie Magrath, who is sharing the title role with Elaina Dobey — is a bona fide genius with a kind heart, natural leadership skills and a strong sense of justice. Now, it’s time we interview one of our leads of the show, Matilda! (But let’s not tell Mrs. Trunchbull or she might make Matilda work extra hard in Phys-Ed!) In today’s blog, we’ll take a look into Cassie Magrath’s life as a young individual in professional theatre, who plays the role of Matilda. (Read more) by Sydney Moody/Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma has started back S-T-R-O-N-G at the Civic Center with their production of Matilda this summer. I went to Tuesday’s opening night show, and I have not stopped yammering about how impressed I was. Every performance was executed flawlessly from the child ensemble to that old, terrifying force Agatha Trunchbull.
The star of the show was rightfully Cassie Magrath as the eponymous Matilda, herself. How a 9-year-old held her own against the likes of big on-stage presences such as Maggie Spicer-Brown as Mrs. Wormwood and Matthew Alvin Brown as the aforementioned Trunchbull is beyond me. When a set piece started to tip during one of her first numbers, she quickly steadied it with nary a stutter or break in her voice. When an ensemble member dropped a hat, she calmly set it atop a box to be both out of the way and visible to others. She was a force, and I hope to one day be as bold and professional.
I am telling you here and now, it is a wonderful welcome back to this space for the company, let alone one of the strongest productions I have seen from them during past summer seasons. by Kaleb Michael Bruza
